Frequently Asked Questions

Here you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about Ana Nikibins’s services and what to expect.

If you have any further enquiries, please contact her directly.

Who does Ana support?

Ana provides psychological support for teenagers aged 13 to 17 and adults over 18. Support is available for a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance use, anger, relationship concerns and life stress.

Do I need to know exactly what is wrong before booking?

No. Many people start therapy because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low, disconnected or unsure of what they need. Your first appointment can help you talk through what has been happening and what kind of support may be helpful.

What can I talk about in therapy?

You can talk about anything affecting your wellbeing, relationships, emotions or day-to-day life. This may include stress, worry, low mood, grief, trauma, anger, substance use, relationship difficulties, personal development or major life changes.

Does Ana work with teenagers?

Yes. Ana supports teenagers aged 13 to 17 who may be navigating challenges with emotions, school, friendships, family relationships, stress or mental health concerns.

Does Ana work with adults?

Yes. Ana provides individual psychological support for adults over 18 who are experiencing mental health concerns, life stressors, relationship difficulties or emotional challenges.

What happens in the first appointment?

The first appointment is a chance to talk through what has brought you to therapy, what you would like support with and what goals may feel helpful. You do not need to have everything worked out before you arrive.

Can I see Ana through Medicare?

Yes. Medicare rebates may be available if you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. Under Medicare, eligible clients can access up to 10 claimable sessions per calendar year.

Do I need a GP referral?

You only need a GP referral if you want to claim a Medicare rebate. If you are attending as a private client and not claiming through Medicare, a GP referral is not required.

What are the fees?

Fees depend on how your session is funded. Ana’s current pricing includes Medicare rebate sessions, private fee sessions and NDIS sessions. Please check the pricing information or contact the practice before booking to confirm the current fee for your appointment.

Is therapy confidential?

Psychological sessions are confidential, with some legal and safety exceptions. Ana can explain confidentiality clearly at the beginning of your therapy so you know what to expect.

What if I am in crisis or need urgent help?

This website is not intended for emergency support. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero on 000. For 24-hour crisis support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
