Psychological Support During Your Workers Compensation Recovery

Recovering from a workplace injury can be about more than physical healing. Many people experience emotional challenges following an injury, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, loss of confidence, or concerns about returning to work. These reactions are common and can have a significant impact on your overall wellbeing and recovery.

Psychological support can play an important role in helping individuals navigate the emotional and practical challenges that often accompany a workers compensation claim. Whether your injury is physical, psychological, or both, the experience of being unable to work, attending medical appointments, managing financial concerns, and navigating the claims process can be stressful. Many people find themselves feeling isolated or uncertain about the future. Working with a psychologist can provide a safe and supportive space to process these experiences while developing practical strategies to move forward.

As a registered psychologist, I provide evidence-based psychological support to individuals with approved Workers Compensation claims in New South Wales. Therapy is tailored to your unique circumstances and focuses on helping you manage the emotional impact of an injury while supporting your recovery goals.

Treatment can include support for:

  • Anxiety, stress, and burnout
  • Depression
  • Bullying or harassment in the workplace
  • Adjustment to injury or illness
  • Trauma related to workplace incidents
  • Building confidence and resilience
  • Developing coping strategies
  • Preparing for a safe and successful return to work

Every recovery journey is different. Some people seek support shortly after an injury, while others access psychological services after noticing that emotional challenges are affecting their progress. Early intervention can often improve recovery outcomes, but support can be beneficial at any stage of the workers compensation process.

My approach is non-judgemental, collaborative, and evidence-based. I work closely with clients to understand their individual experiences and develop practical strategies that support both emotional wellbeing and functional recovery. Where appropriate, I also communicate with your treating team and insurer to ensure a coordinated approach to your care.

As a SIRA approved psychologist, I provide Workers Compensation psychological services at Our Medical Crows Nest and Newport Doctor, offering support for individuals living on Sydney’s Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches. Telehealth appointments may also be available where appropriate, depending on your circumstances and insurer’s approval.

If you have an approved NSW Workers Compensation claim and are looking for professional psychological support, I would be pleased to discuss how therapy may assist your recovery. Please contact Our Medical Crows Nest or Newport Doctor to enquire about referrals, appointment availability, and the referral process.
